Position Summary:

 

The Assistant Fleet Manager is an extension of the branch Fleet Manager and fulfills a key role in staff employee development and branch & company process fulfillment. This is a leadership role that requires honesty, integrity, and the application of good judgment to enable sound & effective decision making, The AFM is expected to fill the gap and ensure all branch & company requirements are ongoing & current during any absences of the FM. Continuous personal development and improvement is required within this role as the AFM is expected to grow and develop into the level of consideration for upcoming FM positions within the US.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee & monitor subordinates and support an environment of growth & development to facilitate achievement of company goals, policies, and practices.
  • Oversee vendor processes to ensure proper lines of communication are maintained to foster an environment where fleet repairs are completed in accordance with established company and manufacturer standards & procedures.
  • Ensuring all team members are fluent in company-wide maintenance requirements and current branch performance markers including Out of Service, Non-Rev, infleet, and defleet results.
  • Ensuring all team members understand their role in improving and maintaining company-wide maintenance initiatives and current branch performance results of Out of Service, Non-Rev, infleet, and defleet markers.
  • Develop a thorough understanding and assist Fleet Manager in implementing and improving proper & effective infleeting processes including timely new vehicle acceptance, PDI, installation of tags and other proprietary items to accelerate vehicle readiness for rental.
  • Develop a thorough understanding and assist Fleet Manager in implementing and improving proper & effective defleeting processes including, timely inspection, reconditioning, and movement of program and sale vehicles to marshalling centers or auctions.
  • Follows through on preventive maintenance and repair programs for all company rental vehicles and customer service buses.
  • Prepares reports and updates to Fleet Manager as required.
  • Assists the Fleet Manager in implementing & maintaining an efficient and cost-conscious culture.
  • Interfaces with other departments fostering effective inter departmental communication & teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • ASE certification preferred
  • Prior Fleet Assistant and/or fleet maintenance supervision or management experience.
  • Potential to develop strong organizational skills including the ability to perform multiple tasks in a high volume, high speed environment.
  • Knowledge or development potential of vehicle maintenance and collision repair, systems, components and design.
  • Must possess excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence and make decisions by applying independent judgment
  • Competency in various computer applications systems including Microsoft Office
  • Must be at least 21years old
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day and/or evening hours
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
