Position Summary:


The VP of Business Development is responsible for the development and deployment of the off-airport business expansion strategy throughout the U.S. This role will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and oversee Business Development Managers within the U.S. As a leader, you will guide your team in market analysis and recommending business strategies to achieve expansion goals.


The selected candidate will quickly master the nuances of Sixt Rent A Car, LLC’s strategic imperatives and business operations as well as the challenges and opportunities in the sector. The VP of Business Development must have sound business sense and be equally adept at marketplace assessments, developing business case and plans of action. Superior judgment, three-dimensional analytical abilities, a collegial approach to problem-solving, and a polished, diplomatic presentation style are all critical to this role.


  • Oversee business development team to analyze potential markets and recommends strategies to achieve expansion goals into profitable markets, including:
    • Marketplace assessments
    • Develop business case and plans of action
    • Responsible for all aspects of corporate real estate strategy including disposals, management, maintenance, construction, and soft service procurement
    • Mergers and acquisitions
    • Launch Sixt rent a car brand and managing reimaging of brand and branch design
    • Supporting negotiations of business and financial transactions, and review related contracts
    • Develop relationships and work with government officials
    • Vendor management
    • Control cost and compliance of business vendors
  • Responsible for overseeing daily operations until requirements are met in order to hand over branch to the branch manager and Regional Vice President
  • Provide strategic direction in developing and assembly of proposals and presentations
  • Plans and organize insightful ways to drive initiatives and resolve issues
  • Effective communication with other departments in headquarters for expansion collaboration.


The successful candidate will have 7+ years of rent a car experience with a heavy focus on branch network development.  Proven record of having become a respected resource and the influential expert on expansions.  In addition, the selected candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3+ years experience in a leadership role
  • Thorough knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and similar key markets such as retail, travel, and transportation
  • A successful track record of effective leadership and business development
  • Experience working with senior management and boards of directors, preferably in public and/or privately-held companies
  • Expertise in commercial transactions and understanding of real estate deals, employment and labor laws and
  • Experience supporting business operations
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to manage within, and contribute to the development and successful execution of, a compelling and inspirational business strategy
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Solid business and operations orientation
  • Innovative/creative problem solver and strategic thinker - able to find pragmatic solutions to business issues
  • Proven ability to conduct proper research to adapt our business for varies markets, leveraging local insights for maximal impact
  • Experience in a values-driven organization.
